Thomas was employing 2 men and 1 boy in the business at the time of the 1861 Census. On the 1871 Census Thomas was listed as a Retired Draper. The 1891 census has Thomas as a retired Grocer and Draper. He was buried in Nayland Congregational Church, Suffolk. 1861 Census: Thomas was 30, unmarried and living at 34 Court Street, Nayland with his brother James and sister Catherine.
1871 Census: Thomas had married and he and his wife were living at 24 Court Street, Nayland.
1881 Census: still living at number 24 with his wife and Lucy Barrell, a domestic servant, aged 21, born Langham.
1891 Census: Thomas, his wife and servant living at 26 Court Street, Nayland.
1900 Suffolk Directory: Thomas is listed under the private residents section in Nayland.

He was married to Isabella BARNES (daughter of Richard Read BARNES) on 20 Sep 1864 in Harwich, Essex. Thomas was from Nayland, Isabella was from Harwich. Both signed the register. The witnesses were Richard Barnes, Elizabeth E Barnes and Caroline A Wilson.
From the West Suffolk and East Essex Free Press: "The marriage took place at Harwich of T.S. Blyth Esq of Nayland to Isabella, 3rd daughter of the late R.R. Barnes Esq of Harwich.: Isabella BARNES was born in 1834 in Harwich, Essex. She signed a Will on 21 Aug 1906 in Colchester, Essex. In her will Isabella left her servant, Lucy Barrell, £100. Her neice, Isabella Dora Fitch, was to receive her watch and chain. Her sister, Elizabeth Barnes, a gold locket, a ring set, clothes, some china and household linen. Her neice, Ellen Fitch, a gold ring. All the rest of her nephews and neices were to share the remaining china. Isabella had a property in Harwich which she left to her sister. The residue of her estate was to be divided between her sister, neices Isabella and Ellen and nephew Richard Fitch. She died on 4 Nov 1908. Her Will was proved on 7 Jan 1909 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. She was buried in Nayland Congregational Church, Suffolk. 1881 Census: still at 24 Court Street with her husband and a domestic servant.
1891 Census: Isabella is living with her husband and servant at 26 Court Street, Nayland.
1901 Census: Isabella, 67 and widowed, is living at Court Street, Nayland. She is 'living on her own means'. She has a general servant living with her.
1906: Isabella was living at Stour House, Nayland when she wrote her will. Thomas Stammers BLYTH and Isabella BARNES had the following children:
